Obvious Link Profiles – Can you blame Google?

Having checked several site link profiles over the past few days following even more recent Google algo changes, I thought that I would categorise their link profiles.

I will start with just one and add more in future posts, but here is an example of a site which has taken a slight hit in the past few weeks.

Even though it has many paid links versus other links, the links were ran as a test, being non-keyword specific, but ‘branded’ terms. If the links were keyword rich too, I am positive that the site would have been smacked like a baby.  For the record, the site has not had a Google penalty notice.

Link Profile of a Website

My assumption would be that Google can indeed tell that the paid links that have linked are not that great, but because the links are not keyword rich, the site has seemingly avoided a penalty, but even so, the sites that the links are on have been weakened themselves.

Or, it could be something completely different. This is SEO, remember :)
